Lori Nix

" I am often asked questions about the inspiration for my work as well as my working process. As a ‘non-traditional’ photographer (I construct my subject matter rather than go find it) people find it hard to grasp what exactly it is that I do. And the fact that it is all done in front of the camera, with no digital manipulation, adds its own set of challenges. Building materials, lighting, issues of scale and space all become significant when you are recreating the world on a table top." Lori Nix

A splash of colour

Shot in Leyton Catholic Cemetery in East London. I took these again using the same 35mm camera, and printed them in a colour darkroom.

Black & white

These are a few photographs I have taken using a Pentax 35mm slr camera. I shot, processed and printed the films myself, experimenting with movement and depth of field.

Print

A collection of monoprints, woodcuts and collagraphs from a project on my route to University. Working from photographs and sketches of buildings, and Leyton graveyard which I pass on the tube everyday.
